Welcome to Karl and Mary Pat's home page!

We are both Canadian certified teachers working abroad. We spent five years working at the American Community School at Beirut in Beirut, Lebanon. We were married in 1999 and we celebrated the birth of our first son, Matthew, in 2000. We moved to Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, in 2001, to work at the Carol Morgan School. Our second son, Cameron, was born there on May 10th, 2002. We had a great three years visiting the country and working with great people. In August 2004, we moved to Riyadh to work at the American International School - Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. Mary Pat is teaching Senior & IB English and Karl is teaching Middle School Physical & Health Education and has assumed duties as the After School Activities Director. As of August 2007, our family will be moving to Shanghai, China. We will be working at Shanghai American School and we are excited about moving into such an amazing and rich culture.

We are starting to wrap up what can be described as a stressful year. Increased and difficult course loads and busy times at school, combined with the added presures of the job search, have had their tole, but we are now starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. As much as we are trying to complete this academic year with awesome students, keeping both feet on the ground here in Riyadh is  starting to prove difficult. We are wrapping up the busiest times of the year in the Athletics department and exams are already on their way. We are starting to receive more emails from SAS and they have renewed our excitement about the impending move. Packers will be here in early June and we have several end of the year parties to look forward to attending. We'll be home in mid-June and will spend some time in the Toronto area until early July, when we fly on to Halifax for three weeks. Then it's off to Shanghai (direct flight!) on July 29th. New adventures await!
